OMG where do I start!? We are two culinary people under one roof. Because of that, I am always on the lookout for great gadgets. But one that saves time in the kitchen, makes eggs better than I could cook em up without it, AND saves on fat and calories...oooo now that's a keeper!

Saves time: No pans to handwash after frying up an egg. just wipe the nonstick tiny pan you sprayed with non-stick cooking spray out when done. And you don't need to keep an eye on the eggs. Just put them in, set for the desired doneness you want (I like mine cooked all the way through, but you can make yours sunny side up...your choice!), and walk away and go about your business...in a few minutes it will turn itself off when your eggs are cooked to perfection.

Makes great eggs: first, I'll talk about the boiled eggs. If your water temp isnt perfect when cooking boiled eggs normally, the egg will stick to the shell making them unsightly after peeling and losing some egg with the shell. This cooks to perfection of your desired doneness and peels away easily. Now you can cook a few boiled eggs and have them for a great protein snack during the day or whip up an eggsalad in no time for lunch! And you never have to time it again...it does it for you!

Second, I'll talk about the poached eggs. I used to make fried egg sandwiches. But crack an egg in a pan and it runs around the pan resulting in a thin egg. This makes an egg you can really sink your teeth into! You know how the egg mcmuffin is thick at mcdonalds? It has that thickness...sooooo good for an egg sandwich! I feel like I am eating two eggs for the calories of one! And the yolk is cooked perfectly in unison with the white. AND the toast, muffin, bagel etc will finish toasting at the EXACT time your egg is done! it times it for you so one isn't hotter than the other.

Save on fat and calories: No need to put butter or oil in a pan to cook that sunny side up egg. just spray with a tiny bit of nonstick cooking spray and it's cooked to perfection and slides easily out of the pan!

Ideas: In addition to just the great protein snack of eggs on their own, this makes some real fancy breakfasts easy. Cook an english muffin and top with your favorite salsa. add sliced avocado and a poached egg on top. Very low cal and only good monounsaturated fat in the avocado. You can even add cheddar if you like. Or make your own low calorie egg mcmuffin with two english muffins, canadian bacon, poached egg and cheese. Add some mayo or even chipotle mayo to jazz it up. I also love eggs, tomato, mayo and cheese on toast and eggs, bacon, cheese and tomato between two bagels. I sometimes toast a slice of toast, drizzle with olive oil and top with an egg, and I do all kinds of egg salads. I also poach eggs then microwave corn tortillas with cheddar cheese and add salsa for breakfast tacos.

Eating breakfast has been proven to help you lose weight. Eggs are a complete protein of low calories...and the protein keeps you full longer...this helps you do gourmet breakfasts in the time it would take you to make high glycemic sugary cereal pretty much!

Going to a party, having guests over, holiday time? I always bring the deviled eggs! Boils em in no time and I just slice open, stir in dijon, mayo, a bit of relish sometimes...I love chipotle mayo in these too. Sprinkle with paprika on top

Why the one for 2 eggs? So you can whip up some for you and another, or make fast eggs benedict for guests (if you want to do this, toast the english muffins, top with canadian bacon or even fresh spinach or asparagus for vegetarians, top with cheese if you want, poached egg...and, if you dont wish to make your own hollandaise then just buy the powdered mix in the dry mix packets in the grocery store (found with all the other powdered mixes like gravies, etc) and make your own!

I honest to God, use this daily. I love me some eggs but I hate cleaning up after cooking them...dont have to anymore. LOVE THIS GADGET!!!

I received this product as a gift to replace our old (5+ years) single egg/2 slice machine that was taking 15 minutes to finish one egg and had many broken parts from years of use.

The machine appears moderately well built of decent materials - not professional quality, but should last a few years of regular use. I like the larger cooking area for more eggs/sausages/etc. I put one egg, one sausage and one hashbrown potato patty in the cooker with fill the provided cup full of water and pour it in. Put my two slices of tost in, press the Egg/Toast button and then push the toaster down and it does everyting else. When the toast pops up it's all done - assemble into a sandwich with a slice of cheese, little maple syrup on the hashbrown and a sprinkle of cinnamon and you've got a delicious breakfast sandwich in about 5 minutes.

But...there's one problem - the toast is cold, and hard, and dry.

The manual states that the toaster keeps the toast warm until the eggs are done cooking - well, not really.

A typical dedicated toaster will toast 2 slices of bread in 90-120 seconds which makes good toast that's soft on the inside, hot on the outside so it will melt butter. The key is toasting it quickly so the inside does not dry out.

What this machine does is toast the bread first, then it sets in the toaster "warming" for the next 3-4 minutes while the eggs/sasuage finish cooking. This dries out the toast making it hard and very crumbly. The more water you put in the cooking tray, the colder and harder and drier your toast is. If you like 1 sloppy egg you can use just a little water and the egg and toast will be done at the same time, but if you're actually cooking the egg and maybe some sausage or bacon, then the toast is done too soon. The "warming" just dries the toast out.

What they need to do is set it up the other way - when the water is almost gone in the cooker, then start the toast and have a really fast (60 second) toaster so that the toast is done (and hot, and soft) when the rest of it is done

What I've ended up doing is waiting until the eggs are done, then put the toast in on it's own while I drain the water out of the egg cooking tray, get my slice of cheese from the fridge, blot the excess grease from the sausage patty, etc. That way the toast is hot and soft but it takes a bit more time and more hassle.

All in all, a good unit except for the above design flaw - still faster/easier than getting a skillet out and cooking everything seperately, but not as good as it could be in my opinion.

EDIT 14FEB2011: The machine is still working as above, but I found one more nucance "flaw" in it's operation. I started 2 slices of tost on their own and then started an egg and sausage cooking. When I pushed the Egg button, the toast cancelled. Apparently you can't toast independantly of cooking an egg. Minor, but frustrating.

EDIT 04AUG2011: Non-stick coating is starting to peal off on inside of the little pans that you put the eggs in. This gets used about once a week on average for about 7 months that I've had it so about 30 uses, 50 uses at the most :-(

EDIT 27OCT2011: Another few months of use, getting longer and longer to cook each time. I've been using the same ammount of water each time. The last time I checked it, it took almost 10 minutes to cook one egg! This is what happened to the old 2 slice/1 egg cooker that this replaced, kept getting longer and longer to cook.
